Hudsonville-based business has team’s ‘back’ in tonight’s NASCAR Camping World season finale

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be concluding its 2015 season with tonight’s Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead Speedway in Miami.

A Hudsonville-based business will have one team’s back – literally. Sawyer Compressor will serve as a co-sponsor on ThorSport Racing’s truck, driven by Cameron Hayley, and look for the Sawyer name on the rear of its No. 13 Toyota Tundra.

Mattei Air Compressors is the team’s sponsor tonight, and the fact that Sawyer is a successful distributor of that product has brought about this opportunity. Mattei invited Sawyer to join the team tonight as a way of thanking Sawyer for its hard work.

“It’s a neat opportunity,” said Sawyer manager Paul Steigenga. “We have a good group of guys there at Sawyer who take good care of their customers, and when we do that, we can sell product.”

This isn’t the first time Sawyer has sponsored a truck in NASCAR. Sawyer sponsored ThorSport Racing’s truck driven by Todd Bodine in the 2013 Daytona 500.

Tonight’s race will be televised live on the Fox Sports Network at 8 p.m. Haley is a 19-year old native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and he enters the finale ranked sixth in the point standings.

Steigenga will watch tonight’s race from the ThorSport pit box. He then plans to stick around and catch Sunday Miami Dolphins game against the Dallas Cowboys.

“Cameron is looking for his first win, and he has been in the mix of things,” Steigenga said. “We will see if he can pull one off.”

ThorSport Racing also features two-time defending champion Matt Crafton and Johnny Sauter.
